Art Meets Fragrance
Discover the fragrances and painted murals at adage studio olfattivo in Riparbella, Tuscany
A Doorway to Perfumery
Inspired by the 1600s botanical engravings of Florentine painter, Anna Maria Vaiani (seen below), a new addition to the vibrant street art of Tuscan town, Riparbella, has bloomed.
Co-founders and “noses” of the New York-born niche fragrance brand, Robert Dobay and Christopher Draghi, have painted their storeroom doorway recently with a reinterpretation of Vaiana’s botanical works. The bold graphic reflects their love of botanical scents and embrace of the palazzo’s pink facade, home to their stylish perfumery and studio adjacent to the decorated doors.
Beyond the decorative impact, the mural is also a visual indicator of the opening hours of the brand’s perfumery next door. When the painted doors are open (pink), as is the showroom/store. When, instead, the doors are closed (green), as is showroom.
For the Love of Italian Design
The mural on the entrance wall of the brand’s “adage studio olfattivo”, designed and painted by Christopher Draghi and Robert Dobay, draws inspiration from Italian midcentury design and poster art. The geometric shapes are a zoomed-in depiction of the brand’s perfume bottle caps stacked. The graphic recalls the heroic proportioned architectural elements of the early to mid 20th century in powdery, clay hues of the surrounding Tuscan hills. The subtle details and references make for a perfect backdrop to the nuanced, yet decisive, fragrances created in the studio.
